Welcome to the New 6Mans

After months of work the new platform is live. New site, new bot, replay analysis, profile customization, and a lot more.

updateannouncement

6Mans has been running competitive Rocket League matchmaking across NA, EU, OCE, SAM, ASIA and ME for nearly a decade now. We've made a lot of changes in the past, but none quite as big as this one.

Our community deserves better than what our old platform could give them. So finally, after lots of hard work and dedication, we're proud to announce that 6Mans 3.0 is finally live. This project has been in the works for quite a long time; We've essentially rebuilt everything from the ground up- things will look better, run faster, and we've even added various new features to keep you invested and engaged!

Why we rebuilt everything

The core reason is that as 6Mans expanded over time, so too did the website and bot. However, over time, it became more and more difficult to maintain and upgrade further and the design slowly became antiquated. The new bot and website will be much faster than before (no more waiting ages for the leaderboards to load) and easier to work with, making it simpler for us to add even more features in the future. To sum it up simply, aside from the performance improvements, the new bot, site, middleware, and backend all allow us to build faster than before and have much more flexibility than the old bot and site.

Another thing this rewrite helps with is to reduce the number of things staff had to do manually in the past. By automating (or at least streamlining) common workflows, staff response times should improve and there will no longer be a backlog of help posts- we'll be able to handle them much faster and more efficiently than before.

Design and performance

We've completely refreshed the look of the site while keeping things familiar. As previously mentioned, leaderboards and profiles will load much faster and the site will actually be readable on mobile (finally!). We've also added a caching layer for even faster loading times.

New and improved onboarding

The new Play page with easy steps
The new Play page with easy steps

The old getting started page was outdated and left many new users having to ask questions to try and figure out what needed to be done and how to do it. We've simplified things while also providing a proper step-by-step walkthrough on registering and getting started.

Your profile, completely reworked

Full profile page with stats and recent matches
Full profile page with stats and recent matches

The old profile showed some simple stats and wasn't very customizable. The new one includes the same stats as the old one, along with various new features: Badges, XP, Commendations, and more!

Badges: As you play and hit milestones, you earn badges. You can pick which ones to display on your profile (up to three on free, up to nine on Premium).

Commendations: After matches, players can now commend their teammates and opponents. These will display on your profile as a signal of what kind of player you are.

Widgets

Profiles now have customizable widget slots that you can fill with various modules you actually want to show.

  • Signature Stats: Pick which stats live front and center on your profile. Free accounts have 3 slots, Premium has 6. It has all the regular stats you'd expect (and some new ones).
  • Season Stats: Your current season at a glance: rank, ELO, current streak.
  • Level Progress: XP bar to your next level. Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Featured Clip (Premium): Embed a YouTube or Medal clip on your profile.
  • Rival (Premium): Pick a rival by Discord ID. The widget will track your head-to-head record with them: total games, wins, losses, recent form, etc. Now you can really prove you're the better player, displayed right on your profile.
  • Playstyle DNA (Premium): A breakdown of how you actually play, generated from your replay data. Are you an aggressor, a passer, a permament 3rd man?
  • When I Play (Premium): A visualization of when you actually queue. Basically, your active times in 6Mans.
  • Career Odometer (Premium): Lifetime counters that tick up as you play, based on your replay data.
  • Constellation (Premium): Your network of frequent teammates rendered as a constellation graph. The teammates you queue with most often become brighter nodes.
  • RL Settings (Premium): Share your camera settings (FOV, height, angle, distance, stiffness, swivel, deadzones, sensitivity) so other players can copy them. The widget displays them in a clean readable layout.
  • Cosmetics and identity

The old premium gave you a background image and a badge on your avatar, that was pretty much it.

The new appearance system is a whole new level of customization, we've got:

Themes: Apply a theme to your profile and the surrounding profile background.

Avatar frames: Cosmetic borders that wrap your profile picture.

Name effects: You know the new discord color gradient name effects? Imagine that, but for 6Mans. They show up on your profile, in widgets, and in Discord embeds where the bot prints your name.

Profile effects: Ambient animations/overlays that are layered on top of your profile background.

Leaderboard flair: Now everyone can have an icon next to their name on the leaderboard, like premium used to on the old site, except this time there's a lot more options.

Everything has a real-time preview, so you can see it without having to go back to your profile page.

    Seasonal effects

Profiles aren't static anymore. Depending on the time of year, ambient seasonal effects will layer on top of whatever cosmetics you have configured. They apply to every profile automatically.

Premium unlocks the full catalogue of seasonal effects year-round, so you can keep your favorite running outside of its actual season.

    Match history

The new match history is a significant improvement over the old one. It's now filterable by season, paginated, and laid out in cards showing result, your ELO change, the rank, who you played with and against (with clickable profile links), the time the series was played (the exact time, not just "# of days ago" or "# of weeks ago"), and the game mode at a glance. It also just looks nicer.

    Replay analysis

This is one of the new feature we're most proud of, and the biggest leap from where 6Mans was before.

When a match is played and the replay uploads, our parser will pull over 220 statistics per player, per game, which powers a multi-tab analysis view.

    Free tabs:

  • Scoreboard: with per-player breakdowns
  • Core Stats: score, goals, assists, saves, shots, shooting percentage
  • Boost Economy: BPM, how much you collected vs stole, time at zero boost, distribution across the 0–25, 25–75 and 75–100 ranges
  • Movement: average speed, total distance, time at supersonic vs slow, ground vs air
  • Positioning: time in defensive, neutral and offensive thirds, average distance to ball, percent of time as last man back or furthest forward
  • Premium tabs:

  • On-Ball Impact: goal contribution and positive play rate. Essentially, how much you mattered when the ball was in play
  • Mechanics: dribble time, flick count, aerial touches.
  • Game Flow: pressure index and kickoff win rate. Shows which team was "putting on the pressure".
  • Heatmap: a 20×40 spatial density grid showing exactly where on the field you spent the game
  • To get your replay stats you will need to upload your 6mans replays manually on the 6mans website. Only one player per series will need to upload if you wish to see your game statistics.

    The stats dashboard

Beyond individual replays, there's a full stats dashboard on your account page.

Overview is your career aggregates and highlights. Timeline shows your ELO trajectory over time as well as overall trends. Head-to-Head lets you look up any player you've faced and see your exact record against them. Records tracks career highs and streaks.

Premium adds three analytical metrics on top:

  • Consistency Score: how stable is your performance? It represents variance across recent matches, scored 0 to 100, and also includes tilt detection- whether your performance drops after a loss.
  • Match Outcome Predictor: what stats actually correlate with your wins. It analyzes your last 100 matches and finds patterns like "when your boost efficiency exceeds 70%, you win 83% of the time".
  • Role Fluidity Index: how you distribute between first man, second man and third man, your primary role, how much you vary from it, and how that distribution shifts in wins versus losses.
  • The 6Coin economy

6Coins are earned by playing matches, claiming your `/daily` reward in Discord, and hitting account milestones. They are not purchased, you earn them naturally by participating and playing.

You can spend 6Coins in the Coin Shop on titles, card frames, backgrounds, name effects, avatar frames, and profile effects. There are also bundles, grouping together sets of items. Items have rarity tiers from common to legendary, and some may be time-limited and disappear after a window.

The Wallet page tracks your 6Coins balance and full earning/spending history. The Inventory page shows everything you own, when it expires (for time-limited items), and what's currently active on your profile. The bot and the site share one balance, so spending on the site updates instantly in Discord and vice versa.

    The titles system

Titles have been revamped, with rarities running from common to legendary. Your active title displays on your profile and next to your name in Discord embeds.

Some titles are also available through the Coin Shop, so be sure to check those out!

    The appeals system

The new appeals system is a massive improvement. You'll submit your appeal through the site, give your reasoning, attach evidence, and it'll go into a tracked queue. You can check the status whenever, no more waiting for an email (that plenty of people end up missing).

    Stream overlay

Stream overlay showing your rank and stats
Stream overlay showing your rank and stats

The streamer overlay can now be configured on a per-account basis. You set it upfrom your account page, point OBS at the URL, and your current ELO, rank, and queue status appear on stream the way you want.

    The new bot

    Slash commands throughout

The old bot ran on solely on prefix commands. However, thanks to the addition of Discord's new hyrbid commands, commands can be invoked both as / commands and as regular prefix commands. This should help players who are less familiar with the commands and even make auto-completing certain paramaters to commands possible.

You can type `/` in any 6Mans channel and you see what's available, what each one does, and what parameters it takes, with autocompletion possible for certain types of parameters.

Traditional prefix commands will still work like before if you prefer/are used to using those instead.

    Queue and lobby

The queue and lobby logic got rewritten from scratch for reliability and speed. There should be no more "an error has occurred" issues that brick the lobby (lol).

Two systems are newly added into the lobby/match experience that didn't exist before:

The Substitute System: If a player goes absent mid-match, others can volunteer to substitute in via the claim button that appears in your rank channel. Substitutes have reliability scores tracked over time. Players who claim and don't show accumulate a worse record, which affects how quickly future claims get approved. It's mant to reward people who follow through.

You can now request a sub using `/needsub` which will tell players who a sub is needed for and the score of the series. This will also help settle disputes on when a sub was called and if its within 10 minutes.

The Dispute System: If you think a result was reported incorrectly, `/dispute` will flag it directly. No longer do you have to make a whole help post, ping staff and wait. Staff can see disputes through their own tools and you can see whether yours is being looked at.

    Smurf detection, now rules-based

We've updated the smurf detection system. I won't go into detail here (for obvious reasons), but it's now much easier for us to customize our detection methods and criteria, which should be significantly better at detecting smurfs than the old system.

    Reporting Players

The old reporting system was a hassle for many, with reports not going through correctly and having to follow a strict formula.

The new system allows you to right click on a user you wish to report (right click -> Apps -> 6MansBot -> Report user) or use `/reportuser` in any channel which will take you to a popout that has a very easy to follow reporting system. You can now also upload files from your computer instead of having to upload to imgur or youtube, which should make filing reports much easier. Please note discord has a limit on file size so for big/longer recordings, uploading to youtube will still be needed.

    What hasn't changed

The competitive core is untouched (for now). However, the new rewrite gives us a lot more flexibility and options for what we can do regarding the ranks and competitive balance in the future.

    Pricing

Premium is still the same old $2.99/month. It's got even more features than before, at the same price:

  • Replay analysis premium tabs (On-Ball Impact, Mechanics, Game Flow, Heatmap)
  • The premium analytics on the stats dashboard (Consistency Score, Outcome Predictor, Role Fluidity)
  • Custom queue cards, badges and avatar frames
  • The full cosmetics catalogue (themes, avatar frames, name effects, profile effects, leaderboard flair)
  • Up to nine display badges instead of three
  • Rivalry watch queue alerts
  • Ad-free site
  • If you've been part of 6Mans for a while and want to support what we're building, Premium is the way. You'll get the full analytics suite and the cosmetics, and you help us keep 6Mans running.

    About 4Mans

Many of you have been curious about our plans for 4Mans. Given the whole bot was rewritten, of course 4Mans was included as well. However, we'll be waiting until next month to release it so that we can spend this month fixing any issues as they crop up and ensuring everything works as expected now that it's running at scale.

    One more thing

We added minimal, non-intrusive ads on the site to help cover hosting costs. No popups or autoplay or anything like that, and they should be better formatted (aka, shouldn't cover the screen on mobile anymore) than the ads on the old site.

    See you in queue

This is 6Mans 3.0. We're really proud of what's here, and even more excited about what comes next.

Thanks for being so patient while we built this, and for filling queues every day. This rebuild was only possible thanks to the support of our amazing community, who have stuck with us through the years.

    See you in the queues,

    The 6Mans Team
